Development of Iran-Mali Relations Discussed

TEHRAN Iran's new Ambassador to Mali Gholam Ali Fahimi Davatgar in Bamako Sunday submitted his credentials to Malian Foreign Minister Modi Bo Sidi Be. Referring to various common points between the two countries, the Iranian ambassador vowed that he will make great efforts to promote Tehran-Bamako relations in different political, economic and cultural fields. Praising the recent decision made by Malian government to open embassy in Tehran, he welcomed convening of the two countries joint economic commission in the Iranian capital in the near future.

Appreciating active presence of Malian senior delegation in the 8th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in Tehran, the ambassador voiced Iran's readiness to cooperate with Mali within the framework of OIC. During the meeting which was held on the eve of Sidi Be's visit to Iran, the Malian minister praised Iran's key role in consolidating unity among Islamic nations.

He further called on the OIC to solve the existing problems facing the world of Islam. He said that during his trip to the Islamic Republic he will deliver a message from Malian president to President Mohammad Khatami. (IRNA)
